"Astroland" is part of a series I've been shooting on Coney Island. This particular photo was taken on a misty early Sunday morning last Spring among growing uncertainty of the amusement park's future. I found the intermix of Coney Island's living historic grounds, desolation, and early morning sunlight radiating through the mist to accurately articulate the melancholic feeling I felt imagining its possible demise. The historic and much loved park has since been closed down to make way for condo and retail development.
