Root's Tree is part of a sculpture series exploring the square foot as a measure to sell the unsellable — planet Earth. Roots' Tree is a tree (or is it a root system?) made from truck seals discarded after having fulfilled their one time purpose. Roots'Tree is planted on a lawn woven of strips of display grass (is it up or down?). The seals are held together by a barnacle, like oceans delineating land. The frame's shape connotes Earth's scaled down projection. Its material the pallet that framed and held the goods behind the seals of distrust. And the frame's mathematical area of exactly one square foot places Roots' Tree in the essence of the Square Foot series.
